Keep Holding On

So, I now have a blog.

......*cricket, cricket*.....

I'm not entirely sure why I even have a blog, just that I do now.  My sista, Jillian encouraged me to get one and I guess this is sort of a good way to let my peeps back home know what I am up to all the time. Ever since I moved I feel like I have been inside of this buble (Michael). But of course I meant the actual kind of bubble, made with liquid dish soap or there equivalent.  I feel like when I moved I became kind of this distant memory. "Oh yeah, Kayla, I think I remember her...". This , of course, is by no fault of anyone, because this is what happens when you move. Your friends and family have to move on with their life as well.  But I digress...

As you can see, my post is entitled "Keep Holding On".  This is kind of a twofold title. See, I recently (and by recently I mean before Christmas) joined the Gander Community choir, since I had a longing to get back to my roots and do something just for me.  It's a far cry from my old faithful Newfoundland Symphony Youth Choir, but at the same time it's much more relaxed.  The choir has about 40 people I would say, ranging from the age of 24 to about 100... (ookay maybe more like ~65).  And yes, because the youngest person is 24, that would indeed, make me the youngest in the choir. Literally. For reelz. There is also a section of men with about 8 in that part, God love em!  I actually really enjoy the choir, more especially now after Christmas, since I have my own section of friends. Jen, Kim, Erika, and Amber (some new, some old friends) joined with me, so we're making the average age of the choir a little closer to 40years.

But,  get this! The songs we have started in the new year are all from GLEE!!!!! Keep Holding On, Lean on Me, Sweet Caroline, etc.  This makes the Fab 5 (see above) very excited because of course these are more pop culture songs and more current.  I question, however, the ability of our choir to do justice to these songs, since approximately 50% of the choir has never even seen or heard Glee before. And even if they have, it does not necessarily mean they are able to sing it. (Oh! And just to clarify,  I highly doubt there will be any sort of dancing or movements to these songs, as it will be a challenge enough to master the vocals, let alone the body movements).  But, let's relish in the small victories, shall we?  I encourage everyone to come see us in concert, as it is my small contributing to my new community.

Well I think that's about all for me today. I must head off to get ready for work this afternoon. I am going to keep holding on to my friends back home because I do miss everyone dearly, and I want to be in contact more with everyone. Hopefully, this blog will help just a little, cuz you know I'm here for you, here for you..

Sincerely,

KJSH
